Scarlets must match Jonathan Davies' ambition

Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies says the region must match his ambition if he is to pen a new contract to stay in Llanelli.

Davies' contract is up at the end of the season and after an impressive summer tour with the British & Irish Lions, he will attract plenty of interest for his services, both from France and England. And Davies, who was named the Scarlets' captain for the 2013-14 campaign alongside Rob McCusker, says he will stay at the Parc Y Scarlets if they show signs of chasing silverware.

"If the club's and my goals in the next few years are the same then I'll be more than happy to stay," Davies told the Rugby Paper. "I've been fortunate with with Wales to perform in big games - the World Cup semi-final, Grand Slams and Championships - and now in with the Lions.

"I just want to win competitions. Once you get a taste of it you want it more and more. As long as we have the squad to do that then I'm happy. I want to make sure I'm in a team I can help win trophies. That's why you play."
