NFL outcast Tim Tebow has reportedly turned down an offer to try his hand at rugby union.
The headline-grabbing quarterback was released by the New England Patriots earlier this week in a move that appeared to jeopardise his future in the sport having already failed to cement his place within the Denver Broncos and New York Jets.
USA Rugby chief Nigel Melville immediately threw the 26-year-old a lifeline on Twitter - insisting: "We should talk about our global game" and it appears an official approach may have been made. Sports Illustrated's Peter King reports that Tebow received some interest from USA Rugby about trading American Football for a different code but a high-profile switch is not going to happen.
Tebow is yet to comment on the report with his sights apparently set on securing a new deal within the NFL. "I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback," he said following his release from the Patriots.
