Clermont turn to Azema and Gibbes?
ESPN Staff
September 27, 2013

Clermont Auvergne have reportedly turned to Franck Azema and Jono Gibbes to replace Vern Cotter when the Kiwi leaves the Top 14 side at the end of the season.

Azema is currently the team's backs coach and Rugbyrama claims he will be promoted to take on Cotter's role. And he looks set to be joined by ex-All Black Gibbes.

Gibbes previously worked under Joe Schmidt at Leinster and with his contract up at the end of the season, the same reports state he will join Azema as the team's forwards coach.

The duo will have big shoes to fill with Cotter joining Scotland at the end of the season. He led Les Jaunards to the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2007 and the Top 14 title in 2010. The likes of Jake White and Robbie Deans were linked with the soon-to-be vacant post at Clermont but it seems they have chosen to appoint the new head honcho from within the club.
