Raphaël Ibañez - the man who was overlooked by France for the head coach post in favour of Guy Noves - is close to agreeing a new long-term contract with Bordeaux-Bègles.

Speaking after their commanding win over Pau, club president Laurent Marti said Ibañez would be staying at the club for another three seasons, tied down on a new deal that takes him through to 2019.

Marti, in L'Equipe, labels Ibañez a "quality manager" and says they will "continue their adventure in the Top 14".

Joe Worsley is expected to extend his contract with Bordeaux- Bègles while they are looking at bringing in Marc del Maso as their new scrum coach. Del Maso was part of Eddie Jones' backroom staff at Japan and was credited with transforming their pack.

Marti also confirmed scrum-half Yann Lesgourgues has signed a new two-year deal but they are still trying to persuade Sofiane Guitoune to stay at the club. He has been linked with a move to Montpellier.
