Colin Shaw, the 17-year-old Ayr full back, scored two tries as the Glasgow Thistles completed their match programme in New Zealand with a 23-5 victory over the Corinthians in Hamilton.
Graham Thomson, the 19-year-old West of Scotland wing who played for Glasgow in the senior district championship three months ago, scored the other try. His West colleague, Fraser Sinclair, kicked a conversion and two penalty goals.
It was an excellent result for the Thistles against a generally older team. The Corinthians, a select team drawn from throughout the Waikato province, were mainly in the 21-22 age range whereas the Thistles are 19 and younger.
With that victory the Thistles finished all square in their four-match programme. They are due to arrive home on Saturday afternoon after more than four weeks' experience of New Zealand rugby in the Waikato province.
