Jason Dufner shot a 63 in the PGA Championship. Have there been any lower rounds in a major? asked Jamie Gallagher

The eventual winner Jason Dufner carded a 63 in the second round of this year's PGA Championship, at Oak Hill in New York. This equalled the low-round record for any major championship - and there have now been 26 rounds of 63 in major history.

The first was by Johnny Miller, in the final round of the 1973 US Open at Oakmont in Pennsylvania. It gave 26-year-old Miller his first major victory, by one stroke. The most recent 63 before Dufner's was shot by Steve Stricker in the PGA in 2011.

Only six of the 26 rounds have led to victory for the player concerned (Miller, Jack Nicklaus, Ray Floyd, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods and Dufner).
