The 100 club
Apparently only one person has been on the winning side in 100 Tests, or 100 rugby internationals, or 100 football internationals - who are they? asked Chris Hancock
This is indeed a distinguished trio. The cricketer is Australia's Ricky Ponting, who took part in 108 Test victories. The next three on this list are all former team-mates of his - Shane Warne (92 wins), Steve Waugh (86) and Glenn McGrath (84) - before the first non-Aussie, Jacques Kallis of South Africa (82).
The only rugby union player to take part in more than 100 international victories is the current New Zealand captain Richie McCaw, with 110 (out of only 124 matches played; he's lost 13 and drawn one of the others). Next come his recent team-mate Keven Mealamu (94), then Australia's George Gregan (93). The leading British player is Jason Leonard, with 89 wins.
And the only footballer to be on the winning side 100 times in internationals is the Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas - Spain's recent victory over Italy was his 111th. Next comes Lilian Thuram of France (94 wins), just ahead of Casillas's long-time team-mates Xavi (93) and Sergio Ramos (90).
