Going into the Australian Grand Prix, several pundits seemed to be tipping the Williams cars for success. But when did Williams last win a race? asked Richard Knight
.

Since Clay Regazzoni pulled off Williams' first win, in France in 1979, the team has won a total of 114 Grands Prix.

That helped them to nine constructors' titles between 1980 and 1997. But since 2004, when Juan Pablo Montoya won the last race of the season in Brazil to gave them their 113th victory, Williams have tended to struggle - last year they managed only five points, and finished ahead of only Caterham and Marussia in the constructors' table.

But there was one ray of light for Williams a couple of years ago - in the 2012 Spanish GP at Barcelona, Pastor Maldonado surprised everyone by taking pole position ... then astonished them by dominating the race and taking the chequered flag.

Maldonado ended up 15th in the drivers' championship, the lowest position ever occupied by someone who won a race during the season.
