The Monaco GP was a bit of a procession, with very few overtaking manoeuvres. Has there ever been a Grand Prix with no overtaking at all? asked Mark McKinley
It would appear that there have been three GPs which featured no overtaking on the track at all, which sounds like a recipe for a pretty boring day.
The first one was also at Monaco, in 2003, in a race won by Juan Pablo Montoya in a Williams, their first win in Monte Carlo since 1983.
It happened again at Indianapolis in 2005, in the peculiar race which only six drivers started after a dispute about tyre safety. Michael Schumacher led home Rubens Barrichello in that one, in probably the easiest Grand Prix 1-2 of them all - the only other cars to take part were two Jordans, which both ended up a lap behind, and two Minardis, which finished a further circuit adrift.
Finally the 2009 European GP, in Valencia, also featured no passing on the track - all the place-changes were accounted for by pit-stop strategy. Rubens Barrichello won that one, in a Brawn, just ahead of Lewis Hamilton's McLaren.
