Saint-Andre's sorry recordJohn GriffithsJuly 17, 2014
How does Philippe Saint-Andre's coaching record with France compare with his recent predecessors'? J-PO, France
Not very well is the simple answer. The current French coach succeeded Marc Lièvremont after the 2011 RWC tournament in New Zealand and has now overseen 29 Tests. His current record reads: won 11; drawn two; lost 16 - a success-rate of 41% (on the basis of two points for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat).
His four predecessors had success records around the 60% mark. Each left his post after RWC tournaments. (The 1995 event in South Africa was a mid-year tournament. All subsequent competitions were staged late in their calendar years.)
