The Grand National seems often to be won by a jockey who never wins it again. Who was the last man to win it twice? asked David Turner

The most recent double winner of the Grand National as a jockey is Ruby Walsh, who won on Papillon in 2000 and again on Hedgehunter in 2005. As those dates probably suggest, there has been no other double winner this century.

Carl Llewellyn won his second National on Earth Summit in 1998, having also won on Party Politics in 1992; Richard Dunwoody also won two, on West Tip in 1986 and Minnehoma in 1994. They were the first double winners since Brian Fletcher's back-to-back victories on Red Rum in 1973 and 1974.

The overall record for Grand National winners as a jockey is held by George Stevens, with five successes between 1856 and 1870.
