I was disappointed when Paul di Resta dropped out of Formula One. What is he doing this year? asked Frank Hartshorne
Yes, it was a shame that Paul di Resta was passed over for a Formula One seat this year - largely, it seemed, because he had an undistinguished run with Force India towards the end of last season, after starting with seven top-nine finishes in the first eight races.
Di Resta rejoined the Mercedes team for the DTM (German touring car) championship in 2014 - he had won that series in 2010 before signing for Force India.
It hasn't been unbridled success this time, though, and he currently sits in 14th place in the championship, after seven of the ten races. He has managed a couple of fourth places, in Oschersleben in May and the Nurburgring in August.
Germany's Marco Wittmann currently leads the DTM standings, having won four of the races. Di Resta is not far behind another former Formula One regular in Timo Glock, who's currently tenth in the standings. Both of them are doing considerably better than another 2013 Formula recruit, though - Vitaly Petrov has finished all seven races but hasn't managed a point yet.
