Simpson trends worldwide after first-tee fluff
We've all fluffed an opening tee shot limply down the fairway - but spare a thought for Team USA's Webb Simpson, who managed to duff the first shot of the Ryder Cup fourballs in spectacular fashion.
Simpson suffered a nightmare start to his Gleneagles campaign with a 190-yard drive off the first tee - prompting rapturous applause from the European fans and a torrent of jibes on Twitter.
It was such a poor effort that Simpson began to trend worldwide on the social networking site - with some even suggesting he had used his putter off the first tee. Here are some of the best reactions to his nervous duff.
Simpson hitting a pitching wedge off the tee interesting Must have been so much adrenaline on those tee shots.
