Treve won the Prix de l'Arc Triomphe for the second year running in 2014. How many other horses have done this? asked Brian Corcoran

Treve's repeat success at Longchamp early in October made him only the seventh horse to win the Prix de l'Arc Triomphe twice, and the first to do so since Lester Piggott completed the double on Alleged in 1977-78.

The Arc was first run in 1920, and it didn't take long to produce its first double winner: Ksar came home first in 1921 and 1922. He was followed by Motrico - the only one not to do it in successive years, winning in 1930 and 1932.

Then came Corrida (1936-37), Tantieme (1950-51) and the legendary Ribot (1955-56), before a 21-year gap to Alleged's first win.
