I see that Tiger Woods won nine events on the American Tour in 2000. Was that a record? asked Michael White

That was Tiger's best year on the PGA Tour in America, but Vijay Singh also won nine events in 2004.

Nine victories is the best by anyone on the US Tour since 1950, when 'Slammin' Sam' Snead won 11, including one of his eight victories at the Greater Greensboro Open.

Ben Hogan won ten events in 1948, and 13 in 1946 - but even that isn't a record. In 1945, Byron Nelson won an astonishing 18 tournaments, including a record 11 in a row, both records it is hard to see ever being approached. Nelson's record-breaking season included victory in the PGA Championship, his fifth and final major title.
