Tardy Luke Shaw suffers X-Factor elimination
Turns out that extra pre-season speed work didn't quite do the trick for Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw.
Having eventually convinced Louis van Gaal that his fitness levels are where they ought to be following his £30 million move from Southampton in the summer, Shaw has started impressing more than just the manager as he collected the man of the match award for his performance in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The England international knew just how to celebrate - by hot-footing it from Manchester to London to catch a live recording of The X Factor at Fountain Studios, Wembley.
Attempting to cover the 197 miles between the final whistle shortly before 5pm and the live show's 8.15pm start time might have been a little ambitious, but that didn't stop Shaw from giving it a go.
Not for the first time since his Old Trafford move, however, Shaw wasn't quite quick enough to convince the judges:
All the way to London to watch X factor then get there 5 mins late and not being allowed in

Unfortunately, there has been no word yet on whether or not Shaw pedalled the 'do-you-not-know-who-I-am' line, while pointing at Wembley stadium. Or whether the doorman was a Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds United or Arsenal fan.
