Are there any British footballers or rugby players who retired with exactly 100 caps? asked Andrew O'Connor

There aren't any British football players with exactly 100 caps, although there are about two dozen world-wide, including Henning Berg of Norway, who played a lot for Manchester United and Blackburn, and Park Ji-Sung, the South Korean who also had several seasons at Old Trafford.

It's a similar story in rugby union, where no British players finished with 100 caps. However, if you exclude Lions Tests, Gareth Thomas and Martyn Williams played 100 times for Wales. Mils Muliaina finished with exactly 100 caps for New Zealand.

In cricket, Andrew Strauss and Graham Thorpe played exactly 100 Tests for England during their careers. Straus retired, but Thorpe was dropped in 2005 to make way for a promising newcomer called Kevin Pietersen.
