When Martin Skrtel's head connected with Olivier Giroud's boot at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, the treatment time required ended up extending the match by the nine minutes in which Skrtel scored the equaliser.

The clash was completely accidental as Skrtel stumbled while blocking Giroud's path to goal, and now the Liverpool defender has decided to use Instagram to treat fans to a shot of the damage caused.

"It's alright now," Skrtel told the club's official website. "It was quite sore straight after the accident, but that's part of football. I'm just glad I could carry on and be part of the game.

"I'm happy about the goal because it helped the team to get a point. But we're disappointed because after the performance we showed - we were dominating -- we deserved more than we got."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers added: "He is a strong character, a real warrior, and thankfully he stayed on and scored a great header."
