Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has once again found himself in hot water on social media after mocking outgoing Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard confirmed on Friday he will leave the Anfield club at the end of the season - with Major League Soccer his likely destination.

But Gerrard will exit Liverpool without the Premier League medal he so desperately craved - a stat Frimpong was quick to poke fun at on his Instagram page with a split image of Gerrard and Manchester United's underperforming, often criticised midfielder Anderson, who was part of four title-winning squads at Old Trafford.

Frimpong, who now plays for newly-promoted Russian Premier League side FC Ufa, deleted the post after a backlash from fans on the social media site.

The Ghanaian had previously drawn criticism on Twitter when he wrote "How am I gonna draw girls now?" just hours after being released by Arsenal last January.

Before that, he had said "Sometimes I wish I was white and English" when asked why he was not involved in a League Cup match against Chelsea.

Just for the record, Gerrard's CV includes a Champions League win, one UEFA Cup win, two FA Cups and three League Cups - as well as numerous individual awards.

Frimpong, meanwhile, can always look back on his FA Youth Cup victory…
