Scholes and Neville step in as Salford City caretakers
Football pundits always have the same accusation thrown at them: "Well, if you've got all the answers, why aren't you a manager?"
So fair play to Paul Scholes and Phil Neville for putting their money where their mouth is - or should that be their mouth where their money is?
The pair stepped into the breach on Saturday to lead Salford City to a 2-1 victory over Kendal Town in the Evo-Stik Division One North, after Salford manager Phil Power and assistant Dave Chadwick had been dismissed.
Alongside ex-Manchester United team-mates Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville, Scholes and Phil Neville own 50% of Salford City. The club sits third in Division One North, tied on 50 points with Darlington 1883 and Northwich Victoria.
But Scholes and Neville - pundits for BT Sport and BBC Sport respectively having briefly paired up as interim coaches at Manchester United towards the end of last season - will not be extending their reign, despite their 100 per cent winning record. The club appointed Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley as joint managers on Saturday evening.
