Martina Hingis won the mixed doubles in Australia in 2015, some 19 years after winning the doubles at Wimbledon. Is this the longest span as a grand slam champion in all events? asked Peter Rice

Martina Hingis won her first grand slam title, the women's doubles at Wimbledon with Helena Sukova, in 1996 when she was just 15. Earlier this year in Melbourne, she won the mixed doubles with her Washington Kastles World Team Tennis team-mate Leander Paes. It's amazing to think that Hingis is still only 34!

However, she has some way to go to match the career grand slam span of the woman she was named after.

Martina Navratilova won her first title (the French Open mixed, with Colombia's Ivan Molina) in 1974, when she was 17, and her last 32 years later, the 2006 US Open mixed doubles (with Bob Bryan) when she was a month short of her 50th birthday.
