John Terry. Captain, leader, legend. Three-time Premier League winner. Five-time FA Cup winner. Now a three-time League Cup winner.

The list goes on and on, but the former England skipper won't be adding any more international caps to his impressive CV - despite gushing over how inspirational he finds the national anthem and Wembley stadium.

Terry has admitted to feeling a huge sense of pride listening to 'God Save the Queen' before Sunday's League Cup final against Tottenham, but not enough to consider donning the white shirt of England again.

"I have missed it, playing in these big stadiums and in these competitions and I'm delighted to get back to Wembley," he said.

England are currently crying out for an authoritative figure at centre-back - anyone who saw Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill's insipid performances in Brazil will know Roy Hodgson hasn't got a defence worthy of competing with the world's greatest.

It is widely acknowledged that the Chelsea captain has been the best English defender this season. But it won't do any good.

When asked if he'd even consider a return, Terry, who has 78 caps, said: "No. It's the simple answer, I don't want to go into it right now.

"Being back at Wembley, the atmosphere, the stadium, it's one of the best I have played in, but it's never crossed my mind.

"I have drawn a line under it and the England squad can move on now."
