After enduring a tricky start to his Manchester United career, perhaps it is fair that Marcos Rojo celebrated so boisterously as he watched his first professional club Estudiantes beat fierce rivals Gimnasia.

Flaunting an FC Barcelona vest and flailing around with less self-control than Radamel Falcao in an opposition's penalty box, Rojo clearly had some pent up frustration to relieve as he celebrated Ezequiel Cerutti's late penalty in a 3-1 victory for Estudiantes on Sunday.

Rojo joined Estudiantes in Argentina as a 10-year-old, going on to make 50 appearances for his local side before moving to Europe via Spartak Moscow and then Sporting Lisbon, where he made his name through a series of combative performances in the Portuguese top division.

With a World Cup runners-up medal to his name, Rojo, 24, joined Manchester United for £16 million and, according to team-mate Phil Jones, has begun to find some form after his initial struggles.

"It's difficult to come over to a different country and a different league and go straight into the team and hit your form, but he's done well."

Rojo has played every minute of United's last eight league games and will expect to start against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.
