Rooney 'knocked out' by Bardsley in boxing incident
Footage has been unearthed which appears to show Wayne Rooney being knocked unconscious by Stoke City full-back Phil Bardsley during a play-fight in the Manchester United captain's kitchen.
The former United team-mates and close friends are filmed in oven gloves at Rooney's house, with the clip culminating in the United forward lying sparked out and motionless on the floor.
The Sun on Sunday got their hands on the footage which shows the pair sparring for a minute or so before Bardsley catches Rooney with a left-hand jab that causes the latter to go down like a sack of potatoes.
The tabloid is reporting that the incident took place on February 22, with Rooney given two days off after United lost 2-1 loss against Swansea the day before.
We're not sure being knocked doolally in his kitchen was exactly the kind of R&R that Louis van Gaal had in mind for his skipper, but hey ho...
