Miroslav Klose scored goals in the World Cup final tournaments of 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Has anyone else scored World Cup goals 12 years apart? asked Cliff Thompson

Germany's Miloslav Klose became the leading scorer in the history of the World Cup finals during last year's tournament in Brazil.

Eight other players have scored in finals tournaments 12 years apart, including a couple of the most famous names of all: Pele scored his first World Cup goal as a teenager in 1958, and his last in 1970, while Diego Maradona first netted for Argentina in 1982, and was still on target in 1994.

The others to have scored in World Cup finals tournaments 12 years apart are Uwe Seeler (West Germany 1958-70), Michael Laudrup (Denmark 1986-98), Henrik Larsson (Sweden 1994-2006), Sami Al-Jaber (Saudi Arabia 1994-2006), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Mexico 1998-2010) and Ivica Olic (Croatia 2002-14).

Laudrup and Olic should perhaps have pride of place here as they scored their World Cup goals 12 years apart, with none in between.
