Ortiz can have a rematch - Mayweather

New WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jnr has dealt a blow to Amir Khan by confirming he is willing to give Victor Ortiz a rematch.
Mayweather defeated Ortiz in controversial circumstances on Saturday, delivering the fourth-round knockout blow while Ortiz was looking at referee Joe Cortez, who had just penalised him for a headbutt.
Now Mayweather says he is willing to give Ortiz another chance to shatter his unbeaten record. "Floyd Mayweather isn't ducking and dodging anybody. If he wants [a rematch], he can have it," Mayweather said. "If he felt like it was a fluke and it didn't get done right the first time, I would do it again."
As Mayweather is reluctant to make regular appearances in the ring - his fight against Ortiz was his first in 16 months - then if a rematch is agreed, Khan will struggle to face Mayweather during 2012, as is his goal.
Mayweather has told Khan that he must first defeat Jesse Vargas, the unbeaten American prospect, before any negotiations can begin.
