Amir Khan has moved to deflect rumours of a strained relationship between him and stable-mate Manny Pacquiao.

Reports circulated on Wednesday that the pair could be on course to meet in the ring after Khan was quoted as saying, "there's tension in the camp".

"His camp don't want me sparring with him and now we train at different times," Khan said in the Bolton News. "It's like they're keeping us apart. It's like his people are thinking there could be a fight between us."

But the WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion took to Twitter on Thursday to assure his fans that a fight was not on the cards when Khan makes the step up to the welterweight division.

"Me and Manny Pacquiao will not fight, we are friends and don't believe rumours, we have been training together today and everything was fine," Khan tweeted.

Khan is currently preparing for what looks set to be his final fight at 140lbs when he takes on Lamont Peterson in Washington on December 10.
