Promoter Eddie Hearn has told Amir Khan it would be a "farce" if he did not take on Kell Brook en route to a future collision with Floyd Mayweather Jnr.

Khan has made no secret of the fact he will move up to welterweight in 2012, following his December clash with Lamont Peterson. The Brit is eyeing up the undefeated Mayweather, but admits he will need one or two fights at the new weight before taking on the pound-for-pound star.

Former British welterweight champion Brook remains unbeaten, and is tipped to win a world title in the next 12 months. He is set to make his American debut on December 17, taking on Luis Galarza on the undercard of Carl Froch's clash with Andre Ward.

In Hearn's eyes Brook is already better than Khan, and he has challenged him to make what would be a huge all-English encounter.

"Khan is talking about moving up to welterweight next year and it would be a farce if he didn't face Kell," Hearn said in The Times. "Amir is a special talent and so is Kell, and that would be a very big fight."

Explaining the decision to take Brook to the US before the end of the year, Hearn explained that it is all geared to ensuring his charge is ready for major opponents - like Khan - in 2012.

"I wouldn't want his first taste of boxing in America to be a world title fight, because he could just go over there and be dazzled by it all," Hearn said.
