Former world champion turned promoter Oscar de la Hoya is tipping Floyd Mayweather Jnr to topple Manny Pacquiao by knockout if the pair ever get together in the ring.

De la Hoya has a vested interest in any fight as his Golden Boy Promotions handles Mayweather's fights, and he feels it would be his man who would emerge victorious.

The American felt Pacquiao should have tasted defeat earlier this month, when he won a controversial points decision against Juan Manuel Marquez, and is convinced his luck would run out against the unbeaten Mayweather.

"It was a great fight [between Pacquiao and Marquez]," he told boxingscene.com. "It was a very close fight.

"Juan Manuel Marquez is a great fighter, but Mayweather has the style to to beat Pacquiao.

"And he will do it by knockout."
