WBO interim lightweight champion Ricky Burns' next fight has been announced, with the Scot returning to Glasgow to defend the title at the Braehead Arena on March 10.

The Coatbridge fighter dug deep to repel the advances of the ever aggressive Michael Katsidis to win on points in their gripping clash at Wembley Arena in November - the second time in succession the Scot had fought in England (the first being a successful defence of his WBO super-featherweight title against Nicky Cook in Liverpool).

Burns, who has been linked with a domestic showdown against British champion Anthony Crolla, will head back to Glasgow for the first time since moving up a weight class to take on an as yet unnamed opponent.

"I belong with the best in the division and next year I hope that I can take on one of the other title holders and unify the belts," he said.

"I'll have a rest over Christmas and then I'm back hard in training in January getting ready for the March 10 date."
