Calzaghe takes swipe at Froch

Super-middleweight legend Joe Calzaghe has continued his long-running war of words with Carl Froch by claiming he would have taken care of Andre Ward with ease.
Froch lost his WBC title to Ward in the final of the Super Six tournament earlier this month, suffering a unanimous points defeat in Atlantic City. Afterwards Froch admitted that the Olympic gold medallist had been far too good for him on the night.
The Brit's loose defence was ruthlessly exposed by Ward, who regularly took advantage of his opponent's low hands to sting him with a series of hooks.
But despite that defeat, Froch is still expected to face IBF champion Lucian Bute in his next bout - and, when last questioned on the subject, he was not giving up hope of coaxing Calzaghe out of retirement for a 2012 clash. Calzaghe hung up his gloves undefeated in 2009, having beaten Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jnr in his final two fights.
However, as was the case when he was active, Calzaghe continues to show no interest in facing Froch - although he could not resist a subtle swipe when discussing Ward.
"I think the way Ward fights would have suited me to be honest. I would have had too much speed and power for him. So, yes, I would have beaten him, but congratulations to him and his team. I hope he goes on to have a great career," Calzaghe said to hattonboxing.com.
