Hatton wants to see Mayweather-Pacquiao
Ricky Hatton is hopeful that Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao are able to reach an agreement and fight one another, thus bringing together what the retired British fighter describes as "two of the best fighters of our recent generation".
Hatton, whose two professional defeats came against each man, knows firsthand what each can bring to the table and as a match-up between the pair continues to remain more of a hope than a certainty for boxing fans the Mancunian believes it has to happen sooner rather than later.
"I really do hope so. I've boxed the two of them and I would consider them two of the best fighters of our recent generation," said Hatton. "It would be a crying shame for boxing fans to miss out on that.
"There seem to be a lot of stumbling blocks in the way at the moment, and they're not getting any younger, so I think it's time that somebody puts their foot on the gas and gets together to really make it happen."
Having been on the receiving end of both fighters' weaponry, Hatton gave his verdict on how he believes the bout could go should it ever materialise.
"I would think Mayweather," Hatton added. "Manny is a nice guy, he's down to earth and I would like Manny to win, but I would have to go with Mayweather."
