Ricky Burns was taken the distance before securing a unanimous decision over Paulus Moses in their WBO lightweight clash.

Champion Burns adopted a cautious approach and his defensive skills proved too good for Moses who took the contest to his opponent but failed to truly trouble the Scot at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow.

The judges were called in to settle the contest and they were unanimous - with the cards reading 119-110 120-110 117-111.

It was a successful first defence of the title for Burns who has an eye trained on an all-British fight with Kevin Mitchell later in the year.

Paul Appleby inflicted the first defeat of his career on Stephen Ormond to win the Celtic super-featherweight title after 10 battling rounds.

Appleby had to shrug off a bad cut above his eye to claim a 96-94 96-95 96-94 success.

There were also wins on the undercard for Scotland's Commonwealth Games medallists Stephen Simmons and Calum Johnson.
