- David Price v Sam Sexton
Price claims British and Commonwealth titles
David Price earned a fourth-round win over Sam Sexton to win the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles at Aintree on Saturday evening.
Price, who is now unbeaten in 13 fights, dominated from the opening bell, landing a variety of heavy blows in the early rounds. He then remained patient in the third round, waiting for an opening before connecting with a strong right hook to send Sexton sprawling.
Another right hand blow stunned Sexton at the start of the fourth, with Price taking advantage by going to work on his opponent's body. Sexton battled for survival by covering up, but hit the canvas for a second time shortly after courtesy of a stiff left hook from Price.
The referee subsequently stopped the fight, leaving Price to believe he now deserves the opportunity to become world champion.
"I felt like I boxed the perfect fight," Price told Sky Sports. "Sam didn't lay a glove on me. It was everything I worked towards since I first fought. Now I can move forward [with my career].
"I believe [becoming world champion] is my destiny. I'm doing everything right. I'm just going to keep working in the gym. I'm not the finished article yet but I will get there."
