David Price has David Haye and Dereck Chisora on his radar, with the newly-crowned British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion saying he wants an opponent that is a "step forward".

Still basking in the glory of his fourth-round stoppage victory over Sam Sexton on Saturday, Price is already planning his next move as he looks to build his case for a world title shot.

The Liverpool-born fighter, 28, has moved to 13-0 as a professional and admits he needs fresh challenges to keep improving. He told talkSPORT: "My next fight has got to be against someone who, when I beat them, I get credit and it means I take a step forward. I'd say myself, David Haye, Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury are the top four in the country. And Sam Sexton was just under that.

"So unless I fight Chisora, Haye or Fury next time out it's not a step forward domestically. We'll have to have a discussion, but [if not one of them] I wouldn't mind fighting a named American, maybe an ex-champion. As long as it's someone who can bring the best out of me."

Although Price is keen to work his way up the ladder, he is wary of challenging for a world title before he is ready.

"I am not in any rush but if I keep developing it could be within 18 months," he is quoted as saying on boxingscene.com. "Rushing is not my style. To get to world level and lose, then what would be the point? Where do you go then, back to British level with your stock lowered?"

With Fury showing no appetite for a clash, and Haye preparing for his grudge match with Chisora on July 14, Price says he is hopeful of giving boxing fans Stateside a glimpse of his talent on the undercard of Amir Khan's next fight, which is likely to take place on July 7.

"I'd love to go on the Amir Khan undercard," he added. "Hopefully we could sort something out and let the Americans see what I'm all about."
