Amir Khan has confirmed that he will meet WBC light-welterweight champion Danny Garcia in Las Vegas on July 14.

Khan had been due to meet Lamont Peterson on May 19 for the WBA and IBF titles, until Peterson failed a drug test and the bout was cancelled.

The Brit will now face unbeaten American Garcia, who beat Mexican veteran Erik Morales to grab the WBC strap during March.

"Just want to say thank you for all the support and may the best man win on July 14," Khan wrote on Twitter. "Khan v Garcia. Mandalay Bay, Vegas."

Golden Boy Promotions, which looks after Khan, is trying to get the first Khan v Peterson meeting - a points victory for the latter in December 2011 - declared a no contest. There is the possibility that the WBA, IBF and WBC crowns could all be on the line for Khan v Garcia.

The WBC has yet to declare whether its belt will be up for grabs, however, as Garcia has a scheduled mandatory defence against Ajose Olusegun.

The Garcia clash is expected to be Khan's last at 140lbs before he moves up a division to go after a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
