Eubank Sr eyes ring return against old foe Benn

Chris Eubank Sr has revealed he wants to make a return to the ring at the age of 45, and he would like to take on old enemy Nigel Benn.

Eubank, the former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion, has not fought for 14 years. He quit the sport back in 1998 having lost three on the bounce.

However, the distinguished Brit, who divided opinion during his career with his eccentric character, wants to complete a trilogy against Benn - who is also retired. Eubank would love to appear on the same fight card as his son, Chris Jr, and he plans to put out the feelers to see if it is a fight the public want to see.

"I'm a light-heavyweight now and when I look at 47-year-old Bernard Hopkins I think, 'If he can do it, why can't I?'" Eubank said in the Sun.

"To get back into the gym? Wow. To be hit again, to be hit in the chest, to be able to withstand a shot to the face, that is a dream for me, it is my fantasy.

"I was even talking to Nigel Benn and I said: 'Come on kid, we've got to get it back on'. It would be a fantasy for me to actually box again, especially on the same bill as my son.

"First I would needed public backing. I would never want to do anything to compromise the respect I seem to have as a boxer."
