Khan: Chisora needs shutting up and throwing out

Amir Khan is not concerned that his fight with Danny Garcia will be overshadowed by David Haye's grudge bout with Dereck Chisora, insisting the all-British encounter is not even a contest.

Khan fights later on the same night as that Haye v Chisora bout, which takes place in London on July 14. In England the focus of the media and fans alike is likely to fall on the heavyweight battle, despite Khan's challenge being for a world title.

Asked if the case will be the same in the US, Khan insists nobody cares about Haye v Chisora, and he confessed even he does not consider it a genuine fight. In Khan's eyes, Haye destroys Chisora in what the light-welterweight predicts will be a farce.

"Mine is a world title fight against an unbeaten fighter while the other one isn't and will be totally one-sided," Khan told the Daily Star.

"David is going to easily win and just walk straight through Chisora. I think he's doing it just to shut him up - and Chisora needs shutting up and throwing out.

"I don't think it will take any limelight away from my fight. There's more interest in the States in my fight than Haye-Chisora definitely, 100 per cent.

"No one's heard of him there but I'm getting quite well known now."

Khan remains hopeful that his meeting with Garcia could be made an unification bout, with Lamont Peterson's belts up in the air after he failed a drug test.
