Soto wants Khan contest

Mexican Humberto Soto is eyeing up a challenge to Amir Khan as he sets his sights on a world title shot.

Soto, who takes on Lucas Matthyse for the vacant WBC Continental Americas light-welterweight belt in Los Angeles on Saturday, is already thinking about the possibility of a match-up with the winner of next month's WBC light-welterweight title encounter between Khan and Danny Garcia.

"I would love to fight the winner of the Garcia-Khan fight," Soto told World Boxing News. "That would definitely be the biggest fight of my career."

Soto, 32, has a record of 58-7-2 and has been a three-weight WBC champion from featherweight through to lightweight. Now he is targeting a potential feat of being a four-weight belt holder.

"It depends on how long I'm able to fight at my best. If I go as long Bernard Hopkins, maybe I'll wind up a cruiserweight," he joked.

"My promoter has told me that my next fight should be for the world title so if I win this weekend and look good then I should get my shot."
