Khan hints at change to regime with Roach

Amir Khan has insisted he has no plans to retire, but hinted at a change to his training programme with Freddie Roach.

Khan's career is in tatters following his stunning defeat to Danny Garcia in Las Vegas at the weekend. Carl Froch has called on Khan to hang up his gloves, but the 25-year-old has insisted he is not listening to the naysayers and is confident of emerging stronger from the defeat.

"I am just going to ignore them," Khan told Sky Sports News. "I know what kind of guy I am and what kind of a fighter I am and I know I will come back stronger. I am still 25. There is no rush. I will take my time and pick the right fights and work my way up again and win a world title."

Khan has been working with Roach since 2008, but there are concerns that the trainer's close ties with Manny Pacquiao are having an adverse effect on Khan and the fighter has admitted he may be paying the price for jetting around the globe.

"Sometimes a lot of travelling is not going to be good for you," Khan said. "I have travelled to the Philippines and back. Maybe what we did wrong was having two camps back to back as well. I was spending a lot of time away from home."

"There are no excuses. I got beat fair and square. It has happened now and we will look at mending those things that can be fixed."
