Roach in dark over Khan future

Trainer Freddie Roach admits he has not been told by the Amir Khan camp whether or not he will be retained for the Brit's next fight.

Former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion Khan suggested after his devastating July loss to Danny Garcia - his second defeat in as many bouts - that he may split from Roach.

Khan feels that Roach's decision to prioritise work with Manny Pacquiao is not helping his preparation for fights, and as a result is weighing up a change of coach. He is frustrated after finding himself paired up with Pacquiao in joint training camps.

Khan also believes he needs to sharpen up his defensive work, having been knocked down more than once, and then stopped, by Garcia.

He claims he has already been approached by several trainers, including Manny Steward, who looks after Wladimir Klitschko - and Roach concedes he is in the dark about the future of his relationship with Khan.

"I have not heard anything official from them. I heard they want to fight in December. No one has told me if I'm in or out," Roach told boxingscene.com.

"If Manny fights in December, he takes priority."
