Tyson Fury stands on the brink of the toughest test of his career after Ruslan Chagaev confirmed his strong interest in a clash between the pair.

Fury, the unbeaten British heavyweight, revealed last month that he was going after a bout with Chagaev, the 33-year-old former WBA champion.

But Chagaev, who is without a trainer, has requested time to assemble a new team before signing a contract.

"As I've said, this is a great opponent and to fight him I would need a solid preparation with a good team. Finding professionals in the shortest amount of time is my immediate task," Chagaev said to boxingscene.com.

The Uzbekistani fight was in action against Werner Kreiskott on Saturday, triumphing via seventh-round stoppage, as part of the undercard to Felix Sturm v Daniel Geale.

Chagaev claimed the WBA crown in 2007 and made two defences before a defeat to Wladimir Klitschko two years later.
