Michael Katsidis would relish taking on Ricky Hatton in his comeback bout but is yet to be approached, according to his agent.

Hatton announced earlier in September that he was set to return to the ring on November 24 in his native Manchester, three years on from his last fight, with his opponent yet to be named. All Hatton would say on the issue at the time was: "The only way to convince everyone I'm back is by flattening someone."

Early reports identified Katsidis as Hatton's likely opponent, with the Australian lightweight's agent Matthew Tripp confirming his camp would be ready and willing to step into the ring with the former four-time light-welterweight champion.

"At this stage there have been no discussions," Tripp said. "But it is something we would consider depending on the purse and depending on the weight.

"It wouldn't be a problem to fight in Manchester. Michael has been over to Britain and he's won two world titles over there. We have had nothing from their camp at the moment. But November 24 would give us enough time - Michael is in full training at the moment."

Katsidis has lost four of his last five fights but would represent a tricky challenge for Hatton. Among his 28 wins in 34 fights - 23 by knockout - are victories over English duo Kevin Mitchell and Graham Earl.

Despite not yet confirming his opponent, the Hatton fight is already a near sell-out.
