Alexander camp claims Brook is a nobody

Kell Brook's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has been questioned by Devon Alexander's camp, who claim Hearn has not done nearly enough to introduce the Brit to the American public.

Brook outclassed Hector Saldivia to put him in prime position for a mandatory challenge for Alexander's IBF world title, following the American's victory over Randall Bailey.

However, the champion is not prepared to fight Brook in England, and he is even hesitant about taking on 'The Special One' in the States. Alexander's trainer, Kevin Cunningham, says there is little money to be made due to Brook's lack of reputation.

"No-one knows Kell over here," Cunningham is quoted as saying by livefight.com. "You'd have thought his promoter would've got him over more than just the once to gain him some notoriety.

"It'll have to happen in the States. No way is Devon going to England. We have no problem taking the fight but Devon has no reason to go over there."

The welterweight division is arguably the most stacked in boxing, with names such as Timothy Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather all competing at the same weight. All would make Alexander more money than Brook, so the onus is on Brook to do the chasing.

"We don't plan on vacating the title and if Kell Brook wants it then he and his team can come and get it," Cunningham warned.

Should the fight fail to materialise, Brook also has plenty of other options, not least an all-British battle with Amir Khan, who the Sheffield fighter recently promised to knock out in the near future.
