Klitschko determined to put on show for Manny

Heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko is determined not to make any mistakes on Saturday as he pays tribute to late trainer Manny Steward.

Steward, trainer to the younger Klitschko for nearly a decade, passed away last month following a short illness. He was just 68.

The American was one of the most respected trainers in boxing, with Klitschko crediting him for much of his success. And the 36-year-old WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion hopes to pay tribute to his mentor with a stirring performance against challenger Mariusz Wach on Saturday.

"In the past nine years that I have spent with Emanuel Steward - and in those nine years I have spent more time with him than with my father which is a fact - I have learned a lot," Klitschko said. "And I won't forget what I'll have to do in the ring on November 10th."

On his opponent, he added: "Mariusz Wach is something of a showman. He likes to talk, he likes to present himself. I have analysed him like any other opponent I've had.

"I've watched all his interviews and all the training sessions I could find and he has made a good impression on me."

The Pole enters the fight with a perfect record of 27 wins from 27 fights, and Klitschko is taking nothing for granted.

"He is skilled, he can go the distance, there is no doubt about that. For his height he moves very well," he said. "But I will say one line that Emanuel used to say, 'Welcome to big-time boxing'."

Wach, meanwhile, is confident of delivering a strong performance despite a significant step up in class.

"On Saturday you will see a different Mariusz Wach, a Mariusz Wach who will want to take those belts off Klitschko," Wach said. "You will remember that fight not for hours later but for days and months to come.

"If I need 12 rounds then 12 rounds it is. I am prepared for everything."
