Johnathon Banks will be the head man in Wladimir Klitschko's corner when he takes on Marius Wach at the weekend.

The death of legendary trainer Emanuel Steward left Klitschko needing to find a new trainer on a full-time basis.

Banks had learnt his trade under the watchful eye of Steward and Klitschko, who will put his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight belts on the line in front of the ESPN cameras in Hamburg on Saturday, claims Banks was always his favoured option - despite being six years older than his new trainer.

"I knew from the beginning it was going to be Johnathon Banks," Klitschko said. "He is a man who has learned a lot from Emanuel and whom I met on the same day as I first met Emanuel nine years ago.

"Of course he is not Emanuel Steward but he is Johnathon Banks, and everyone has their own way of doing things. Considering everything, this camp has gone very well.

"We are all missing Emanuel, who was a great friend and one of the geniuses of the sport. But his spirit is with us and I know he is around us and looking forward to this fight."

Banks, 30, will combine training with fighting and is due to meet Seth Mitchell on November 17.
