Andrew Flintoff will make his boxing debut against unbeaten American heavyweight Richard Dawson, according to the Daily Mail.

Former England cricket star Flintoff is set to embark on a new career in professional sport and is reported to be in excellent shape for his debut fight on November 30.

An ESPN source claims Flintoff is in the best condition he has been in in years, having lost a huge amount of weight in preparation for his fight in Manchester.

His opponent has not yet been officially named, as Flintoff still has to come through a number of medical checks before being given the green light to box, but those hurdles are expected to be cleared and the Mail claims it is Dawson who will be in the opposite corner to Flintoff.

At 23, Dawson is relatively untried as he has just two fights - and five rounds - under his belt.

"It will be a wonderful experience," a spokesperson for Dawson told the Daily Mail. "We respect Mr Flintoff as an athlete and from everything we've read he appears to be a well-conditioned athlete.

"However, he does not appear to have any fight experience and even though we know he has been training with some of the best in the business, that is not the same as being in a prize fight taking punches.

"We think this is a good opportunity to give Richard some experience and exposure. We don't fear him but we do respect him."
