Price keen to take on Chisora

David Price wants to meet Dereck Chisora in the ring after dealing with Matt Skelton - but only if the Londoner can get hold of a British boxing licence.

Chisora was stripped of his British boxing licence in the wake of his behaviour surrounding his defeat by Vitali Klitschko in Munich, culminating in a brawl with David Haye during the post-fight press conference.

The Londoner returned to the ring to take on Haye at Upton Park in July in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation, where he lost to the former WBA heavyweight champion in five rounds in front of a crowd of 30,000.

And Price, who defends his British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles against veteran Skelton at Aintree on Friday, believes Chisora is the only fight left for him on these shores.

"Dereck is a fight that interests me for the simple reason that he is a good fighter," Price told the Daily Star. "After I get Skelton out of the way Dereck is the only one left at domestic level.

"There is David Haye, but it looks like a world title or nothing for him."

Promoter Frank Maloney believes he could replicate the success of the Haye-Chisora bout by staging the contest in another football stadium, but Price would not consider a fight sanctioned by anyone other than the British Boxing Board of Control.

"It would have to be on the grounds that I was defending my British title," Price warned. "I want to keep my Lonsdale belt so Dereck must get a British licence."
