Manny Pacquiao has said there is no reason why he will not step into the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr next year.

Pacquiao, who takes on Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time this weekend, insists he is "100 per cent" open to a showdown with his rival, and claims it is up to the American to call the shots.

Speaking to ESPN, Pacquiao, who has agreed to a 55-45 split in Mayweather's favour, said that he hoped the pair could arrange a fight in 2013.

"I hope that fight will happen by next year," Pacquiao said. "I am 100 per cent willing to fight him.

"I already announced that on ESPN, on the radio stations, in every interview, I have said that already. He can suggest all the rules and regulations in boxing when we fight together.

"I have nothing to do, it is his job if it is OK or not. It is up to him."
