Khan broken hands talk rubbished

Amir Khan's father has refuted claims his son broke both of his hands against Carlos Molina at the weekend.

Khan got his career back on track with an impressive win over Molina in Los Angeles - after which he called for a rematch with Danny Garcia.

Those plans appeared to be cast into doubt on Sunday when reports emerged claiming Khan had suffered fractures in both hands.

Khan's father has admitted the former Olympic silver medallist suffered soreness, but stated that is normal for any fighter and that a specialist gave a clean bill of health.

"The claims are complete and utter rubbish," Khan senior is quoted as saying in the Sun. "After Amir beat Molina there was some swelling but at no time did we suspect anything was broken. Just to make certain he went to hospital to see the specialist and they gave him the all-clear.

"If a boxer doesn't finish a bout with bruised hands then he probably hasn't thrown any punches - and Amir landed a lot against Molina."
